Design & Technology
At Elm Tree we have developed a curriculum for Design & Technology that leads with the development of life skills such as cooking/nutrition and the use of textiles. These skills are developed each year with children building on skills and knowledge in our spiral curriculum to ensure they are equipped to successfully think, work and communicate like a designer.
We build in investigations of structures, mechanisms and electrical systems throughout both key stages.
In Early Years and Key Stage 1 each year group has five units of learning across the school year with each unit following a cycle of design, make and evaluate. In Key Stage 2 there are four units.
